just a few updates,
I had an amazing trip to kyoto for 4 days with the other exchange students, I got back Monday, I want to do a good job of blogging about it and I don't have time right now, so you'll have to wait to hear about it.
I changed homestays last week and theyre really nice,
and tonight I went karaoke with the other exchange students and some japanese kids, and then there were people playing acoustic guitars and keyboards and doing hip hop dances in these individual little spaces on the street, and there was a free one, so I jumped in and put out a paper cup and started singing O Canada really loudly, and then when people got close I would turn it into this really popular Japanese pop song and start dancing, but no one was putting any money in my cup, even this one guy who came up to me and was like dancing and singing along and shook my hand. Anyway I gave up after it stopped being funny for the other exchange kids watching me, and when I got a better look at all the other performers I realized none of them had cups, none of them wanted money, they just wanted a chance to play their music for an audience.
basically I felt like an ass.
There's a big fat cultural difference for you, street performers not asking for cash.
I have to be up early to shovel snow like I promised I would, so to wrap this up I'll say everything is going great, ive been missing home alot the last couple days since the excitment and action of kyoto ended, but I'm having fun and not wasting any of my time (which seems to be going by so fast).
...I know I said I was saving kyoto for a longe better blog, but I might as well take the chance to put up some pictures, I definitely took enough.

Save the street performing for when you come home and need money for university.
Lots of love,

That's crazy that the street performers don't ask for money. People must be so surprised when you started singing the Japanese pop song.
Can't wait for the Kyoto post!
